It seems contradictory, but for me, hanging out the door of a helicopter to take a photograph is less scary than climbing a ladder to reach the top of my first-story windows. While I’ve jumped – voluntarily- from an airplane, I’ve never voluntarily come down from a ladder at twenty-four feet per second squared. I’ve always fallen.

I’m not afraid of getting up there, I’m terrified of falling down.
